An intimate semi-staged recital featuring opera and art song inspired by Shakespeare’s timeless tales.
About this concert
William Shakespeare occupies a unique position in the world of literature. Over the past 400 years, his plays have been translated into every major living language and performed more often than those of any other playwright. Awash with references to music, these plays have been a source of inspiration for countless composers, from Purcell through to Mendelssohn and Thomas Adès.
In this intimate recital, join sopranos Dominique Fegan and Anna Tafani, and baritone Leon Warnock as they perform art songs and semi-staged opera excerpts inspired by Shakespeare's timeless tales. This performance will include excerpts from Verdi’s riveting Macbeth as well as Thomas’ Hamlet, Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette, and more.
Don’t miss this evening of dramatic singing by some of Australia’s finest upcoming classical voices in Shakespeare.
