A re-imagined performance of one of Schumann’s most beloved song cycles which explores the ups and downs of love’s tortured course.
About this concert
One of Schumann’s most beloved works, Frauenliebe und Leben (A Woman's Love and Life), follows the journey of a woman in love, from meeting her soulmate, through to the elation of their marriage and family life, and finally, years later, the heartbreak of his death.
This re-imagined representation of the song cycle will feature leading Australian soprano Leanne Kenneally depicting the female character as she reflects on her life and lover. Joining her are Jolanta Kudra (soprano) and Cameron Bodiam Taylor (baritone) who will perform works by Zemlinsky, Brahms, and other composers, representing the young lovers at key moments in their lives and visually portraying the main character’s memories.
Don’t miss out on the chance to hear some of Australia’s finest emerging and established classical voices as they take you through a semi-staged interpretation of Schumann’s Frauenliebe und Leben.
