Nicholas Massouras is an emerging Australian baritone and arts administrator, currently completing his Honours studies at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University. Active both on stage and behind the scenes, his work as a performer and producer is grounded in a shared commitment to connecting audiences and artists through music.
In 2025, Nicholas served as Project Coordinator for the Queensland Art Song Festival, where he was recognised by Artistic Director Alexandra Flood as “an essential partner” in the delivery of the event. He also appeared as a performer in the festival alongside his long-standing collaborator, pianist Carina Weder. This experience reflects his dual practice and particular affinity for collaborative music-making.
As a performer, Nicholas has been recognised for his warm, resonant voice, earning both the Margaret Nickson Prize and the Donald Penman Prize, awards that reflect his strength in ensemble and partnership work. Throughout his studies, he has performed in six opera productions in supporting roles and chorus, working with leading figures in the Australian opera ecosystem including Constantine Costi, Lindy Hume, Simon Hewett, and Johannes Fritzsch.
Supported by the Friends of the Arts Foundation and an Australian Cultural Fund campaign, Nicholas recently undertook a three-month international study tour across the UK and Europe, expanding his professional network and engaging with leading artists and organisations.
Currently serving as Company Assistant with Voxalis Opera, Nicholas is excited to continue supporting emerging artists and enriching the cultural landscape across Southeast Queensland.
