An evening of Latin American song.
About this concert
Voxalis and the Queensland Art Song Festival have proudly partnered together in 2023 for La Canción, an exciting evening of Latin American song. Merging European, African and Indigenous influences, Latin America has proven its resilience through time and become one of the most culturally rich and diverse regions in the world.
Join us as we travel from Mexico to Argentina with a performance of classical, folk, and contemporary music that represent the sounds, passion and joyfulness of Latin America, with an accompaniment of matched wines.
Featured in this program are the talents of emerging singers Gabrielle Diaz (soprano), Alla Yarosh (mezzo soprano) and Camilo Lopez (baritone), who will be joined by associate artists John Woods (piano) and Clancy Anderson (guitar) to bring you songs by Villa-Lobos, Piazzolla, Montsalvatge, Estevez, and more.
The Conservatorium Foyer bar will be open for one hour before the performance, where you can enjoy an acoustical taste test of the evening’s dulcet guitar tones before settling into the Basil Jones Orchestral Hall.
