Jack Bolton, an operatic bass from Canberra, is completing his final year of the Bachelor of Music in Classical Voice Performance degree at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University (QCGU) under the tutelage of Margaret Schindler. Jack won the Margaret Nixon Prize (QCGU, 2021) alongside pianist Mai-Lien Olsson and has performed with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra as the Bass soloist in Mozart’s Requiem for their Sing with the QSO Community Concert. During his time at QCGU, Jack has sung these roles in staged opera: the Judge in Phillip Glass' Orphée as a part of the QCGU production of Underworld (2023), Private Willis in Gilbert and Sullivan's Iolanthe (2022); Snug the Lion in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2022), and selected scenes as Sarastro in Mozart’s Die Zaubeflöte (2021). Jack has joined Brisbane’s new operatic group, Voxalis and did the role, Masetto, in scenes from Mozart’s Don Giovanni in Voxalis’ 2022 season finale, A Celebration of Opera. That collaboration will continue when he performs the characters Giorgio Talbot and Sir Gualtiero Raleigh in the project, The Two Queens.
