Originally from Adelaide, Gianna Guttilla is an emerging soprano who is currently in her second year of a Master of Music Studies degree in Performance Voice at Griffith University, under the vocal tutelage of Dr. Margaret Schindler. She received her Bachelor of Music and First Class Honours in Classical Voice from the Elder Conservatorium, University of Adelaide. Gianna made her professional opera role debut as Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi  (Co-Opera 2022), touring with the company to Penola for the Coonawarra Arts Festival, Griffith NSW and central Adelaide. Gianna was also a member of the 2022 Emerging Artists Fellowship program with Recitals Australia and was awarded the 2022 Adelaide Eisteddfod Vocal Prize at the Young Virtuoso Awards. Since then, Gianna partook in the 2023 Queensland Art Song Festival Masterclass series with Baritone Benjamin Appl, Sholto Kynoch and Andrew Goodwin. Gianna has also recently performed the role of Eurydice in QCQU’s 2023 Opera Underworld, as well as the partial roles of Calisto (La Calisto), Armida (Rinaldo) and Mrs. Hayes (Susannah) in the GCQU Opera Scenes at the 2023 Tyalgum Music Festival. Additionally, she studied the roles of Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) and Mimi (La Bohéme) at the 2024 Cuskelly Summer School Program. Recently, Gianna worked as part of the Adelaide Festival Chorus in Stravinsky’s The Nightingale and other Fables with State Opera of South Australia, and is looking forward to singing the roles of Elvira in L’Italiana in Algeri (QCGU 2024 Val Machin Opera Scenes) and Suor Genovieffa in one of QCGU’s 2024 operas Suor Angelica, as well as singing chorus and covering the role of Gretel in Voxalis Opera’s 2024 production Hänsel and Gretel.
