David Upcher

David Upcher is a classical Bass, currently studying his Bachelor of Music in Classical Voice at Queensland Conservatorium, guided by Shelli Hulcombe. There, he has played the role of Theseus in Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Val Machin Scenes 2022), as well as chorus roles in Iolanthe, Street Scene, and Béatrice et Bénédict.

Prior to his study in opera, David spent several years performing choral music with The Australian Voices and St. Stephen’s Cathedral Choir. After singing in Australasian Dance Collective’s acclaimed Everyday Requiem, he was inspired to pursue singing as a lifelong vocation. He now sings professionally as a member of St. Stephen’s Cathedral Schola, directed by Christopher Trikilis.
